Position: Program Manager - Child Protection and GBV Location: Wajir, Mandera and Garissa: Kenya Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension Reports to: Regional Protection Technical Advisor Summary: CESVI is currently implementing a Child Protection Program which incorporates elements of GBV in North Eastern Kenya. Working with Somali refugees and the pastoralist Kenyan community. Both groups are recovering from the ongoing drought and from violent clashes. The program: Works with the community to provide appropriate support services for child survivors of abuse through training and strengthening of referral mechanisms Uses participatory methodology within the community to create awareness messages and peer education groups to promote behavior change towards issues of child protection Creates and supports Safe Space Centres for Women and Children Works with the health care system to train health professionals in Clinical Management of Rape and Caring for Child Survivors Responds to emergencies in North Eastern Kenya Uses monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure that services and programming for women and children are timely and that the guiding principles of case management are adhered to Provides support to vulnerable children who have crossed the border including referral to FTR services Job Description: Program Manager GBV and Child Protection The overall objective of this position is to implement the child protection and GBV program in North Eastern Kenya. S/he will not only implement this program, but will also provide key technical support on the area of response to CESVI’s partners and community actors. S/he will know key child protection and GBV actors in Kenya, understand the legal framework and identify gaps in services. They will be dedicated to ending child abuse and have direct experience in working with child and adult survivors of GBV. Experience of report writing and an excellent use of excel is also necessary for this position. Some basic knowledge of the CP IMS would also be beneficial, but is not a requirement. They will not only believe in the rights of children, but also have an interest in promoting the rights of women and girls and human rights in general. S/he will be a proven team player and will be supported by experienced CESVI staff. S/he will have a proven record of managing large protection programs and large numbers of staff members. This position is 80% based in the field and so the right person for this position must be comfortable with spending long periods of time in isolated locations.
